We are financial consultants to entrepreneurs providing expertise in accountancy solutions and commercial business advisory services. Our name, derived from the adjective ‘sedulous’, epitomises the work ethic, commitment and attention to detail we perform on each project to ensure the highest possible level of service. We offer a full range of services from the inception of the business concept, throughout growth of the entity and on to exit strategies. There is no typical clientele; we operate on new start businesses to multinational stock listed companies.
About the Role
Why be a Finance Controller for just one company when you can be one for multiple companies across a diverse and exciting client base. You will be responsible for managing and reporting our High Growth client’s commercial, financial, and accounting activities whilst building strong client relationships at board level, as well as providing solutions to operational problems without having to get involved in the day-to-day implementation. You will acquire expert knowledge in numerous exciting industries and be expected to assist the corporate finance team in positioning these clients for future sale.
A typical day will look like:
- Maintaining regular dialogue across the client base
- Attend client meetings on a regular basis
- Oversee and support the creation of monthly reports to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts on a timely basis
- Prepare personally and ensure the client’s accounts team(s) prepare monthly management information relevant to the client on a timely basis as well as managing cash flows by tracking transactions
- Analyse and discuss with client, management accounts, key performance indicators and detailed cash flows
- Ensure all accounts are reviewed and review points are resolved
- With the help of Sedulo’s other services, such as wealth management, funding, corporate finance, R&D and mortgages provide a holistic offering not just to the company but their directors as well
- Review client’s financial plans and budgets regularly to look for cost reduction opportunities
- Examine client’s financial reports and data closely to check for discrepancies
- Identify opportunities or threats to clients and assisting with taking advantage or mitigating them
- Respond to client queries in a timely manner
- Support other departments where necessary
- Create bespoke client systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations
- Have a proactive approach to developing new business and bringing in new clients through a variety of mechanisms including attendance at networking events, building your current network and actively chasing up leads that are passed to you from across the business.
What we really need:
- Qualified in ACCA / ACA / CIMA or QBE
- Proven working experience at Financial Controller level or above ideally across a range of industry sectors focused on high performance delivery/start-up working at a fast pace.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
- Experience with creating financial statements
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
- Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
- Experience using systems like NetSuite would be ideal
