At Sedulo, we listen to our people. And they are definitely getting more comfortable with telling us what they think!

As a leadership team, we fully embrace the team’s feedback as it helps us to make a tangible, relevant plan for Sedulo’s people of today and tomorrow. Our team engagement survey in February 2022 opened the door to us hearing what the team wanted and one request that came up time and time again was a focus on how our training is structured. Learning & Development (L&D) has always been in place for everyone but as we grow, the structure and evolution of what we have in place has become more important.

So, our team spoke, we listened…and now our new L&D programme will go live in September 2024!

L&D is key to the success of any organisation. Investing in the personal and professional growth and development of the team enables everyone to strive to be the best versions of themselves both at work and at home. The aim is that this ultimately results in a happy, engaged team that enjoys being at work and wants to deliver excellence by default every day.

Our “why?”

By investing time and energy into L&D, Sedulo’s goal is twofold:

  • To see current team members progress to leaders of the organisation in the future, with a focus on continuing to make a positive impact in our communities and deliver world-class work to our clients
  • We also want to provide everyone with the opportunity to play to their strengths and be outstanding Sedulo citizens while they are with us

We know that not everyone wants to be a leader (or maybe even a manager) but everyone can still be amazing at what they do in life. We are determined to give our whole team access to skills growth and opportunities to progress in their careers as well as enabling them to follow their passions.

Oh, and of course from our perspective, a progressive L&D programme is great to talk about with prospective candidates thinking about coming to join our team!

It’s Your Sedulo Story – how will you write it?

We think differently at Sedulo; innovation and creativity are actively encouraged. We love hearing about our people and their stories, as they provide a window into understanding their drivers, what makes them happy or sad, their hopes and dreams, and where they want to end up in life.

The programme’s purpose is to let each individual design their own learning to cater to their own agenda—as long as they do the mandatory stuff, too, of course!

We know that everyone will have a different choice when it comes to their pathway to success, everyone learns differently and everyone has different priorities in life, so this new programme will provide variety from a content and delivery perspective.

Learning mechanisms will include online learning (through our new platform, Kallidus), face-to-face practical sessions, lunch-and-learn knowledge-sharing sessions, webinars/event access, recommended reading, toolkits… – the list goes on. There will be something for everyone, and we will keep adding to this as we continue to evolve the programme.

Content-wise, we will have everything from essential compliance-focused stuff (AML, cyber security, GDPR, and Health & Safety, to name a few) to a raft of service line-specific technical training and a newly curated management development programme for all our people managers.

Outside of the more structured elements, there will also be a load of training materials available for individuals to utilise when writing their Sedulo story, whatever that looks like! Skills such as stronger public speaking, being able to positively influence others or even considering how mindfulness can add value and depth to their own development – this programme will provide access to it all!

A footnote to close…

Putting in-place a well-thought-out, structured, multi-faceted L&D programme is a win-win for Sedulo, the team and our clients.

It will provide everyone with access and opportunity to take control of their own career path whether that is in team management, technical expertise or adding value by living and breathing our mission, pillars and values every day.

It will enhance CPD learning and open doors to new opportunities for promotions or with more lateral, cross-service line moves to build depth of knowledge for our technically focused specialists. And, for those who just want to be the best version of themselves they can, there will be a bank of resources to help them do just that!

Sedulo will benefit from having a team that consistently has a high level of knowledge and awareness of key mandatory training and how we should all behave towards each other to foster an environment of trust and respect.

We can continue in our quest to build a team of high performers who will continue to drive the business forward, delivering excellent service to our clients while remaining true to the DNA that runs through Sedulo, creating a positive impact across our communities through everything that we do.
