Reflect, respect,celebrate
Our diversity and inclusion mission is to drive progressive cohesion, by creating innovative and inclusive environments for all of our stakeholders.
We believe that the only way to create positive change within the communities in which we operate is to provide a positive workplace culture where people feel valued, supported and an intrinsic part of Sedulo’s vision.
We do this by empowering our team to deliver world-class service through recognition of our visible and invisible diversities and embracing the rich intersections of diversity within each of us as individuals, and as a collective.
Diversity, equity, and inclusion are not just words…we live them.
Why does it matter?
Diverse teams deliver results. This is down to:
- Diversity in workplaces enabling creativity and innovation to thrive
- Diversity correlating to better financial performance - In the UK, greater gender diversity on the senior-executive team corresponded to significant performance uplift: for every 10 percent increase in gender diversity, EBIT rose by 3.5 percent
- Companies in the top quartile for ethnic and racial diversity in management being 35% more likely to have financial returns above their industry mean
Our key themes for 2023
The key themes covered in our Diversity and Inclusion programme for 2023 includes Race / Ethnicity, Neurodiversity / Disability, Religion, LGBTQ+, Gender Equity and Socio Economics.
We are supporting these themes across the year through activities including hosting interactive learning sessions, creating informative content and constantly encouraging creation and change in our own policies.
For causes close to the hearts of our team, we are also proud to offer sponsorship support as well as the Sedulo Spotlight Project – a platform inviting our people to share their own stories of diversity and inclusion.
The progress we've created already...
The progress of our Diversity and Inclusion programme has to-date resulted in:
- Implemented compulsory Unconscious Bias training across the company.
- Implemented a Menopause Support Guide.
- Devoted our newest meeting room to iconic Manchester Woman, Emmeline Pankhurst.
- Held informative learning sessions for Black History Month, Australia Day, International Women’s Day, Pride & more.
- Being proud sponsors of initiatives such as the British Diversity Awards, Lesbian Visibility Week and the launch of Bradford Bulls’ Pride Shirt.
And this is just the beginning. It’s crucial we continue to celebrate the cultures and backgrounds that contribute to our diverse workforce. Together, through education, we can make positive change for ourselves and the communities in which we operate.
