An exciting year which has included new projects, clients, colleagues, departments and a new home is nearly over!

Here are the highlights of another busy year…

THE COMPANY

Possibly our biggest development this year happened in February/March, as we moved into the Regency Club – a purpose-built home complete with an open-plan working area, multiple meeting rooms, event space, bars both in the office and on the roof and a pool room.

2016 was another year that saw the introduction of new departments and services as well.

Our Sedulo Funding offering launched in September, and has so far helped nearly 50 businesses find access to funding when ordinarily they may have struggled.

Also joining along with the Regency Club were our dedicated events staff, working on projects such as seminars, socials, panel discussions, charity fundraisers, sporting events, a BBQ, a pool tournament and more, and later in the year we also welcomed our new HR function, ensuring that the training and development of our staff is secured for the future.

The growth and new services have also brought new additions to our client-base as well, as we enjoyed record growth in the number of businesses we work with in 2016.

We continued to enjoy our place in the press this year as well, with numerous features once again in the likes the Manchester Evening News, Insider, Business Desk, FT Adviser, Citywire and more. 2016 also saw us make our first foray into national media, with The Regency Club featured on BBC News as one of England’s trendiest offices.

2016 was also a year in which the achievements of our team were recognised as well, with a number of award nominations and wins.

We were privileged to be nominated for awards in the likes of the Entrepreneur of the Year Awards and the Unbiased Awards, and come out victorious in the Talk of Manchester Awards for Best Boutique IFA and Best Corporate Finance Company, the Manchester Young Talent Awards for Finance Professional of the Year, take home the Chief Executive’s award at the Downtown in Business Awards, as well as an inclusion in the 42 Under 42.

On top of this, we are also already up for accolades at the Made in Manchester Awards (Accountant of the Year) and Unbiased Awards (Investment Adviser of the Year) in 2017.

We continued our commitment to giving back to the community too this year.

We’ve supported our charity clients through fundraising initiatives in our events, as well as the likes of donating towards the Once Upon A Smile’s Christmas Toy Appeal, competing in the Manchester Run, giving up the things we love in exchange for donations and even getting our hands dirty with coin cleans.

We were also proud to sponsor Stockport County’s cup runs this year (slightly lucky as well as they went on a bit of an FA Cup run, giving us value for the money!), as well as directly making donations towards other organised events and initiatives throughout the year.

THE TEAM

Unheralded growth within our walls during 2016 has seen us welcome a number of new colleagues to the team.

Our Accounts team welcomed a number of new faces, with Andrew Witte, Laura Merrill, Macauley Pedder and Georgia Clare joining. A familiar face also returned, as Natalie Rabuszko couldn’t keep away and returned to the team after her travels, and Emma Dann made the switch into Accounts across from Payroll.

Wealth Management have also welcomed new staff, as John Foy, Gareth Rose, Loren Nottingham and Jess Walton all joined to bolster the ranks, and our Tax department continued to grow with Bernard Chiu and Amy Higinbotham joining.

Payroll has seen the team double with Dan Stuttard, Tracy Heyes and Mel Wyatt joining, and Lucy Dixon joined us to manage and execute our events and keep the Regency Club in shape.

Later in 2016, Leyton Jeffs moved into the office as we launched Sedulo Funding, and Hayley White joined as our first member of staff completely dedicated to HR.

2017 is set for more growth within the team already, with three new starters confirmed already.
